Version 7 of 3D MAX offers improvements that enhances speed and provides better user interface. The new version now has Character Studio within the standard program, as well as other features such as TurboSmooth, Object Display Culling, and Direct 3D Redraw. In addition, the DirectX material support has been improved with Standard materials becoming easy to be translated to DirectX shaders. With the new improved user interface, 3D MAX 7 can now import MPEG files and use them practically everywhere you have bitmap formats.

It can create and manage the scene you're creating- The Array dialog allows you to preview an array in all viewports in real time before you actually make it. With the Clone and Align tools, selected objects can be duplicated to locations specified by other objects in your scene.

The Object Display Culling helps you improve viewport performance in complex scenes by providing a box for less important objects which you could either hide or display as you work.

The Walk Through Navigation gives you the capability to navigate and move around the model scene as if you were actually inside it. This creates a faster and more natural movement of the camera.

With an optional JSR-184 Exporter, you can create .m3g files for devices that support the Mobile 3D Graphics API for Java 2 Micro Edition standard. You could preview your exported .m3g files on 3D MAX's standalone player.It provides faster modeling- For the creation of models, the feature of Bridge connects pairs of selected borders or polygons automatically, even if they have different numbers of vertices.

This particular feature enables the application to help you create a smooth joint, as well as help you make a design of your own.

In addition, the Make Planar can provide you with the average alignment of a selected group of sub-objects along a specific axis. This is a big help when you are creating flat surfaces using a rough mesh.
