2005 Adobe Design Achievement Awards

It’s been five years since the first time the Adobe Design Achievement Awards was held. Really, it has come a long way. And I believe, it will continue to fulfill its mission to recognize and honor the most talented and promising student graphic designers, photographers, illustrators, animators, digital filmmakers, and computer artists from the world’s top design, film, and broadcast institutions. This year, there are two new categories, animation and broadcast design, that broaden the scope of video submissions.

It’s great that Adobe spearheads this kind of activity because it gives the opportunity for creative professionals to show off their creative works using Adobe software applications. With its expansion to nine categories and entrants from 10 countries namely: United States, Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Australia, New Zealand, and France, the stage has become bigger than ever. Thus, a wider audience was given the chance to come up with innovative and fresh ideas in creating their masterpieces.

Regarding the major awards, individuals and groups may enter projects in the following categories: Animation, Broadcast Design, Environmental Graphics, Digital Illustration, Digital Photography/Imaging, Interactive Design, Print Design, Self-Expression, and Time-based Media. The truly awesome prizes have become a part of the motivation for student creative professionals to create the best entry for the Adobe Design Achievement Awards 2005. Imagine winning the first place, the winning entry will receive US$5,000; a trip to New York City for the July 21, 2005 awards ceremony; and meetings with top design professionals. This is so cool, definitely!

However, the Adobe Design Achievement Awards 2005 is not all about the cash prize and the recognition that our creative professionals receive. These are all secondary. What’s important is that we get to appreciate the works of art that they do because after all, all of us benefit from these creations in one way or another. And also, these people doesn’t only give time, money and effort while creating their works, it’s something where their heart is.

Good luck to all the participants and congratulations to all the winners-to-be! Keep it up!
